Allan Trench - Associate Consultant - Perth, Australia
Allan has over 20 years experience within the mining/metals and oil/gas sectors including senior management positions with WMC and Woodside Energy and serving as a non-executive director to a number of junior resources companies. Allan has held academic positions at Oxford University (Geophysics) and Curtin University of Technology (Mineral Economics) and worked as a management consultant with McKinsey & Company engaged in both strategy and operations-focused client work. Allan maintains an affiliation as Adjunct Professor of Mineral Economics & Mine Management to the Western Australian School of Mines.
Allan's current focus is corporate strategy and operations consulting, coupled with mineral markets analysis. Mining experience and operations exposure was gained whilst at WMC (Kambalda, Leinster) and also at Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines, Australia's largest gold operation - a joint venture company owned by Barrick Gold and Newmont Australia.
Allan holds Masters degrees in Mineral Economics (WA School of Mines) and in Business Administration (Oxon.), a doctorate in Geophysics (Glasgow) and an Honours degree in Geology/Geophysics (Royal School of Mines, London).
Jack Wallace - Consultant - London, UK
Jack joined CRU strategies at the beginning of 2010 on completion of his Oxford University Engineering Science degree. Since then he has worked on a variety of due diligence projects gaining extensive experience and knowledge of the worldwide steel, aluminium and iron ore markets. He has profiled several of Europe’s leading steel companies and has a deep understanding of steel production and delivery channels. Jack has compiled market overviews for both steel and aluminium which have contributed extensively to major IPO deliverables. Jack has also worked on several forecasting projects providing consumption and production outlooks across a range of commodities.
Jack has an MEng in Engineering Science from Oxford University.
Adam Wang - Research Analyst - Beijing, China
Adam Wang joined CRU in January 2012, from Frost & Sullivan, where he started his consulting career. Since joining, Adam has been involved in several mining related projects, in iron ore, coal and base metals. More recently he has specialised on iron ore and is conducting a programme of visiting iron ore mines around China.
Adam started his working career in coal mining industry in Concy Co., where he worked as regional business manager for 3 years, before moving to SDRI Co., which is an Electric Equipment Manufacturing Company, as an international marketing manager from 2007 to 2009.
Adam has a BEng in Mechanical and Electrical Integration from USTC (University of Science & Tech. of China). He also successfully studied for an MBA in the USA at the Hult International Business School in 2009.
Katherine Wright - Senior Consultant - London, UK
Katherine joined CRU Strategies in early 2008. During her time at CRU Katherine has primarily worked on multi-metals projects which include strategic reviews for those companies that are exposed to a range of minerals and metals, including base metals, steel raw materials and precious metals. Katherine has also been involved with several market entry and valuation projects across a range of commodities, including copper, iron ore, steel, wire and cable, aluminium and manganese.
In 2010 Katherine did a secondment at CRU Beijing to work on single client projects in China, primarily in the steel, copper and gold markets. She is currently the Deputy Practice Area Leader for Non-Ferrous Valuations.
She holds an MA (Hons) degree in Economics from the University of St. Andrews.
