As Asia grows, both in economy and population, its demands grow too. Today, Asian countries account for nearly 60% of the total global nitrogen fertilizer consumption, with China and India alone consuming nearly 50% of the world’s production – owing to large proportion of nitrogen intensive crops grown in the region, including 90% of the world’s rice, 50% of global grains area and 55% of the world’s fruit and vegetables.

Asia will remain a key driver in urea and ammonia demand, leading to continued investment in new nitrogen capacity.
