CRU’s Steel Metallics Monitor, published Thursday 9th May 2013, reports that weak demand is continuing to depress global metallics prices. CRU Consultant Sarah Macnaughton writes “Turkish scrap purchases – often relied upon to prop up the EU and US market in times of weak domestic demand – have continued to disappoint, leading global scrap prices to fall by up to $25/t m/m in May.”
