Toby is based in CRU’s Sydney office and is focused on the analysis of global coal markets. He is involved in the production of CRU’s Thermal Coal Market Outlook, including coal price forecasting and sector updates, and also contributes to CRU’s Metallurgical Coal Market Outlook. Toby oversees CRU’s primary energy model as well as forecasting coal supply and contributing to CRU’s Coal Cost Models.
Toby joined CRU in Sydney in 2018. He has over ten years of experience in the resources, transport/infrastructure and banking sectors. Prior to joining CRU, Toby held various roles with Aurizon, the Queensland Resources Council, the Queensland Government and Westpac Banking Corporation. He has conducted due diligence for multi-billion dollar projects in Australia’s resources sector, provided analysis on the resources policy framework across all tiers of Australian government, and delivered insight into global financial market conditions and its implications for the resources sector.
Toby studied at the University of Sydney where he focused on the economics of commodity markets. He holds a Bachelor of Agricultural Economics degree with majors in both Economics and Agricultural Economics.
