A unique opportunity has arisen at CRU for a talented, highly motivated individual to take on the role of Head of Sustainability. Being a highly visible global role, both internally and externally, you will provide thought leadership in a fast evolving space. 

Internally, you will lead the Sustainability strategy development, implementation, curation, coordination and creation of content, supporting both methodology development and coordinated promotion of CRU analysis to the market. Externally, you will take the lead in defining an evolving market need, supporting the development of marketing strategy and tactics as well as taking a direct customer-facing lead at the most senior level when required.

Key to success in this role are identification of content, platform and opportunities to build CRU into a strong and credible voice within this space with existing and new clients, achieved through timely and accurate identification, capture and moreover actionable analysis and communication of market need as input to product development and content creation processes. In addition, you should be able to support the quality and quantity of Sustainability coverage for existing and emerging markets, including providing thought leadership, coaching, managing the integration of themes and content across commodities, and guiding and assisting in delivery to customers.

For the right individual, this role involves working with a wide spectrum of internal and external stakeholders worldwide, across a wide range of activities and outputs across our global teams as well as seeking opportunities for CRU in a dynamic emerging external market.

About you - What are we looking for?

  • Experience in the commodity industry and value chain including knowledge of reporting, measurement, disclosure and risk management functions and operations of industry & supporting services
  • Knowledge of data and market analysis needs and priorities of industrial customers and their wider stakeholders as well as understanding of subscription and data/information business models
  • Experience of client and stakeholder facing activities at senior levels as well as ability to manage senior internal stakeholders including at C-suite and Board level
  • Experience of strategy development and implementation with a high level of strategic and innovate thinking
  • Ability to solicit and understand market requirements and translate that into service development concept and ideas, gaining high levels of engagement with market participants
  • Highly collaborative and effective in working in a matrix model environment in an international setting
  • Technical understanding of ESG reporting and standards, including but not limited to CO2e as well as market understanding of new sustainability technologies, ESG policies and regulation in mining
  • Technical understanding of emissions sources and generation mechanisms in industrial processes.

    You will be degree educated (first or 2:1 or equivalent) from a top University or equivalent level qualification in a relevant discipline; a master’s degree is also desirable. You will be fluent in written and spoken English as well as excellent MS office skills.
