Analyst - Fibre Optic, Wire and CableLondon, United Kingdom

CRU’s Non-Ferrous Metals team is looking for a talented and highly-motivated Analyst to develop and maintain a first-class reputation for CRU's research on the Fibre Optic and Wire & Cable markets.

You will be responsible for primary and secondary market research, keeping up-to-date with current global and regional economic trends and tracking developments in fast-changing industries. As an Analyst, you will collect key data sets in order to produce 5-year forecasts and to contribute to the team's portfolio of monthly and quarterly reports. You will also contribute regular special features on topical subjects as they arise.

You will also undertake significant external client engagement, developing and maintaining relationships with a wide range of market participants ensuring you provide market-leading customer intimacy. Working closely with the sales and marketing teams, you will help to maximise sales of our analytical products, both in terms of renewals and new business.

For the right person, this role will provide you the opportunity to develop an in-depth understanding of the Fibre Optic and Wire & Cable markets as well as contributing to CRU’s market-leading publications as part of a well-established team.

Essential Criteria
Undergraduate degree in Economics, Natural Sciences (Mining and/or Geology) or in a similar field with a minimum grade of 2:1

Excellent written communication skills with fluent written and spoken English

Strong quantitative background and a creative thinker based on a robust approach to data/modelling

Goal-oriented, with a high level of energy and enthusiasm; able to operate efficiently, effectively and professionally within a fast paced, dynamic and results driven business environment

Proven analytical skills with the ability to critically analyse data and identify trends and key drivers

Ability to construct a compelling narrative and have the confidence to express and defend position clearly

Excellent numeracy skills, ability to handle large data sets and understand mathematical concepts to best interpret and manipulate data

Desirable Criteria
Masters in Economics or a similar field with merit or above is desirable

Knowledge of the metallic wire and cable industry and/or fibre optics industry would be desirable

Evidence of commercial awareness would also be an advantage, particularly an understanding of commodities markets or relevant work experience.

Excellent IT skills including the use of MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

CRU operates on a global basis so the jobholder may be expected to communicate across offices and time zones.

CRU’s reputation is based on strong first principles research and excellent client relationships. As a result, the jobholder should expect to travel a minimum of 10% of working time.
