You will work closely with other members of CRU's global Steel Team with specific responsibility for South Asia markets and other markets in the Middle East and Southeast Asia. You will actively contribute to our analytical products, as well as participate in the development and improvement of both our analysis and cost services, contributing to research, as well as the maintenance, updating and application of our cost models.
You will be responsible for primary and secondary market research for your region, working closely with product editors and other regional market experts. You will analyse market fundamentals, provide forecasts and communicate your views in written form, demonstrating insights, analysis, prices and forecasts on a robust and transparent set of methodologies. You will need to ensure that you can keep up to date with market trends and industry developments, as well as validate and continually improve production, trade and other data important for our work.
You will also undertake significant external client engagement, developing and maintaining relationships with a wide range of market participants ensuring you provide market-leading customer intimacy. You will also build a network of contacts within India and further afield to obtain primary research data.

Undergraduate degree such as Economics, Natural Sciences (Mining and/or Geology), Mathematics or in a similar field with a minimum grade of 2:1
Fluent written and spoken English
Proven depth of knowledge, ideally of the coal and/or mining industries
Strong quantitative background and a creative thinker based on a robust approach to data analysis and modelling
Goal-oriented, with a high level of energy and enthusiasm; able to operate efficiently, effectively and professionally within a fast-paced, dynamic and results driven business environment
An analytical mind-set and able to get to grips quickly with the intricacies and complexities of the economics and data that drive our business
Excellent team ethic and able to build strong interpersonal relationships
Demonstrable experience in statistical and data analysis
Excellent IT skills including the use of MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Further degree (Master’s degree with merit) would be desirable
CRU operates on a global basis so the jobholder may be expected to communicate across offices and time zones. Some business travel outside of India will also be required
