CRU’s market-leading Steel Team is seeking a talented and motivated individual who will have full ownership of and responsibility for CRU’s Iron Ore Cost/Service. This service provides comprehensive coverage of the cost structure of iron ore mines around the world, and you will provide continuous improvement of it by expanding its coverage.

You will also contribute to other cost models/services looked after by CRU’s Steel Team and play an instrumental role in driving the use of costs across the steel team’s analysis products. In addition, you will collaborate with CRU Consulting and, on occasion, actively participate as a team member, in the delivery of single client management consulting assignments related to steel costs.

Moreover, you will undertake significant external client engagement, developing and maintaining relationships with a wide range of market participants ensuring you provide market-leading customer intimacy. You will conduct client presentations and respond to questions arising from any deliverables (e.g. data, models, reports etc) in a prompt and highly professional manner. You will also build a network of contacts of ore producers around the world.

Essential Criteria
Relevant first degree - mining or metallurgical engineering; economics or mathematics, but other relevant subjects will be considered.

Proven depth of knowledge – of the raw materials and steel sector, but otherwise of other similar sectors.

Proven analytical/model building skills, including a familiarity with handling large data sets and an understanding of mathematical concepts.

First class data management skills;

First class communication skills, both written and verbal.

Excellent attention to detail.

An ability to individually work to strict deadlines and also to deliver products (i.e. that include contributions from several analysts) to strict deadlines.

Commercial awareness.

A determination to succeed and a “can do” attitude.

A team and company player.

Desirable Criteria
Further degree (Master’s degree with merit and/or PhD) would be desirable

Additional Information
CRU operates on a global basis so the jobholder may be expected to communicate across offices and time zones. The jobholder must expect to travel 10-20% of working time.
