The opportunity

Our market-leading Analysis division is seeking a talented and motivated Analyst to join the Steel team to manage our view on finished steel products. This pivotal role requires an engaging individual who can work across our steel team and manage market data and analysis for key products within the finished steel portfolio.

The Analyst will collaborate across the CRU’s teams covering the steel supply chain, from raw materials through to crude steel and finished steel. This will require strong communication and time management skills. The individual must have an affinity to working with large data sets, an ability to explain complex ideas simply and concisely to internal and external stakeholders, a keen eye for detail, and will enjoy the challenge of collecting data from a diverse range of sources.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Maintain and develop steel demand/supply and price forecasting models while upholding data consistency and integrity
  • Undertake primary research to develop and improve data presented in finished steel services and share views on the steel market
  • Ownership of key price assessments
  • Write topical reports and insights on events impacting finished steel markets.
  • Collaborating and coordinating with wider Steel team to share best practices
  • Engage in frequent, high quality information exchanges with large multi-national customers and market participants

  • Ability to prepare presentations on various topics
  • Numeracy - Familiarity with handling large data sets, and understanding mathematical concepts and processes
  • The ability to interpret, manipulate and manage data, with excellent data management skills
  • Excellent IT skills including the use of MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • An ability to speak German or Italian is desired but is not critical.
