CRU’s Multi-Commodity team is looking to recruit a talented and motivated individual to support the team’s regular data analysis work and to help drive data efficiency across the business.

You will be responsible for the team’s data processes and report production, working closely with the Multi-Commodity director and analysts across the business. Moreover, you will be expected to contribute to data process development and data management initiatives across CRU. For the right person, this role will provide the opportunity to use and develop your data skills on a daily basis and to become part of a dynamic, supportive and truly international business.

Key Responsibilities
Data efficiency project management
- Work across the business to identify, design and deliver multiple data efficiency projects to the business
- Be a champion of sharing good data practice across the business through active participation in the Data Management and Excel Group
- Develop strong relationships with CRU Analysts to best understand their data requirements and to provide advice and support

Data analysis and data processing
- Accurately collect, process and quality assure LME data, from multiple sources, to create and publish the weekly LME Commitment of Traders Report (CofT)
- Seek feedback and development opportunities to extend the CofT reports to include Fx, CFTC and Agri data
- Manage the monthly process to identify and correct LME data errors in the CUPID platform

On time delivery of Multi Commodity analysis
- Accurately collect, process and quality assure data from across the Outlook portfolio to create monthly CRU Heat Charts and Quarterly Commodity Outlooks
- Produce charts and tables for reports and presentations, as required, to a ready to use high standard and to deadline
- Produce two Insights or Special Features per year comparing price developments across the ferrous, non-ferrous and fertilizer portfolio

Develop an expertise in CRU’s cost model algorithms
- Working with the Development team drive transparency in CRU’s cost model algorithms
- Use NI43-101 and other public data sources to verify the robustness of existing cost model algorithms, making recommendations for updates if required
- Be a champion of the cost modelling community of practice

Project assistance
- Provide project assistance, as a data expert, across other CRU projects as required

Desirable Criteria
A degree (first or 2:1) from a top British university or equivalent level qualification from a leading university outside of the UK specialising in maths, economics, engineering or in a similar field

Experience in mining, metals and/or energy with a familiarity with mine/industrial cost modelling processes would be an advantage

Highly proficient in MS Excel; experience in Excel’s advanced data management capabilities an advantage

Aptitude to learn new systems such as CRU Cost Models, Perivan and Thinkcell

An analytical mind-set and a strong aptitude for working with and solving data challenges

An ability to operate efficiently, effectively and professionally as part of a team or as an individual. Competent at multi-tasking and prioritising deadlines

Methodical and structured in their problem solving approach

Fluent written and spoken English
