CRU provides world leading business intelligence on the global metals, mining and fertilizer industries, through market analysis, management consultancy and events.

Working within the IT development team the role will involve the design, build, testing and ongoing maintenance of CRU’s predictive cost models. The models are then sold as software based products to clients within the commodity industries and are also utilised by in-house market analysts.

Key Responsibilities   
Gain knowledge about the cost models and processes involved in maintaining a high standard of consistency across cost services

Apply modelling skills to design and build models

Apply analytical and problem-solving skills to provide solutions to the business and improve existing models

Collaboration with market analysts within the business for model updates

Work alongside project managers, business analysts, software developers and quality assurance engineers within the IT development team

Desirable Criteria
Proficiency in using the Microsoft Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel, with the ability to handle large and complex data sets

Ability to identify anomalous data and improve processes to avoid them in future

Methodical and structured in their problem solving approach

Willing to try new things – work outside comfort zone and be able to work independently

Exposure to standard modelling concepts

Highly numerate

Customer focused

Prepared to work as an equal within the team –everybody’s opinion is important.

Ready to take ownership of the predictive modelling role and be proactive in developing new concepts and features

An open communicator

Experience of software development (desirable)

Experience of predictive modelling tools (desirable)

Knowledge of the commodities industry (desirable)
