The opportunity

The Head of HR is responsible for developing, implementing, and the operationalisation of the global people strategy, whilst keeping in line with business strategy and company culture. The Company has undergone a period of change over the past few years and the people plans are central to this change. This role reports into the Group CEO, and will be a member of the Executive Team. The Head of HR will have responsibility for all aspects of HR, across all the Company’s global locations, this is assisted and supported by an HR Team, and also locational based infrastructure and support.

The Head of HR will have direct line management responsibility of two distinct teams - A global HR team comprising of specialists and generalists, and the UK Office & Facilities team. Due to the global nature of the role, there will also be the requirement for occasional overseas travel to the group’s international locations. Candidates need to be fluent in written and spoken English, and also be fluent in Mandarin. A professional HR qualification is also required.

Responsibilities will be broken down into 3 main areas, these will include:

Core

  • Act as a trusted strategic advisor across the global business – Partnering with the CEO, Chairman & leadership teams to coach and guide around the people agenda (including but not limited to - engagement, employee relations, best practice, organisation design, reward, talent acquisition and development) in pursuit of business growth and performance
  • Oversee the and develop talent strategies and end-to-end processes, ensuring the company can attract, onboard, and retain top talent; with clarity and understanding of the company’s employee proposition
  • Drive, support and communicate the company’s Culture through various initiatives and engagement survey data. (including survey implementation, results analysis, project initiation, and company communications)
  • Translate key data into an effective insight to influence and inform the people plans with focus on retaining talent, development, and organisational diversity
  • Manage, review, and oversee the Company’s Performance Conversations process to ensure line of sight to business objectives and drive employee motivation
  • Develop, drive, and embed companywide learning, wellbeing, and development focus – with specific focus on defining and support the development of leaders
  • Define, lead, and manage global HR projects and initiatives – With a focus on those that support the globalization of the organization, career progression, and talent retention
  • Ensure compliance and understanding across the organisation, of regulations, industry trends, new developments as it pertains to employment trends and requirements that support organisational strategy
  • Oversee the execution of core HR processes (e.g. Pay and Promotion process)
  • HR budget management – including planning, forecasting, and managing expenditure across the HR team and development and recruitment budget of the organisation
  • Oversee the Company’s immigration and global mobility processes developing solutions for the future of work
  • Develop and leverage external support in deliver of the people plans, where capabilities are limited within the organisation

Management & Leadership

  • Lead the HR function in support of the People plans for the organisation. This will involve structuring and developing the teams across the business to best effect, so they can meet the organisational requirements

General

  • Assist the CEO and Executive team with company initiatives, such as the communication plans and regular companywide meetings
  • In partnership with the location leaders and Executive team, oversee the UK office and facilities function including involvement in companywide projects

About you – What are we looking for?

Knowledge & Experience

  • Extensive experience in a generalist or specialist HR role at Group level or major division
  • Solid management and leadership experience, so you can successfully lead the HR team
  • Working knowledge of global employment legislation and recognised HR best practice
  • Proven ability to drive efficiency and process reviews across a global HR function
  • Experience of working and managing people strategies across different cultures
  • Proven track record providing high level commercial support within a multi-faceted and global business
  • Experience of maturing HR processes to the requirements of an organisation
  • Experience of using HR systems

  • High level of corporate awareness and business acumen, able to understand the wider business context and demonstrate a commitment to cross-organisational activities
  • Outstanding communication skills – able to deliver disappointing news and give position outlook as well as ability
  • Evidence of having passion for working with people, and working beyond the confines of the job description
  • Ability to facilitate variety of dialogues and meetings to support change
