You will be responsible for price assessment and development of steel long products and metallics market view and forecasts for the US and Canada, becoming CRU's market specialist in these areas. The job demands the highest level of analytical capability, attention to detail, the ability to maintain and grow a strong network of contacts and understand and deliver client value. For the right person, however, it will provide external client engagement, industry profile and provide the opportunity to become an integral part of a dynamic, supportive and truly international team.
Undergraduate degree in Economics or in a similar numerate field with a minimum grade of 2:1 (or equivalent)
Fluent written and spoken English
Demonstrable price discovery experience with knowledge of the structure and operation of steel supply chain, industry and competitive landscape
Proven analytical skills with the ability to critically analyse data and identify trends and key drivers
Ability to construct a compelling narrative and have the confidence to express and defend position clearly
Strong quantitative background and a creative thinker based on a robust approach to data/modelling
Goal-oriented, with a high level of energy and enthusiasm; able to operate efficiently, effectively and professionally within a fast paced, dynamic and results driven business environment
A strong commercial awareness and an analytical mind-set with the ability to quickly understand the intricacies and complexities of the economics and data that drive CRU’s business and strategy
Experience of mentoring or supervising junior team members
Excellent IT skills including the use of MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Aptitude to learn new systems; experience with statistical software (such as R, eviews or matlab) will be an advantage
Given the international nature of the team, some flexibility will be required from time to time in the scheduling and attendance of meetings with colleagues in different time zones.
