CRU seeks a degree educated, talented and motivated individual to develop and promote CRU prices in the APAC & EMEA regions, with a focus on APAC.  Key elements of the role include working with commodity teams in CRU to understand evolving market needs for price indices, and therefore help shape CRU’s prices portfolio and delivery channels and promote the use of CRU prices in physical and paper markets.

Reporting into the Head of Prices Development, the Prices Development Manager role demands the ability to research, understand and help define market requirements for prices, reach and influence key stakeholders, work collaboratively both inside CRU and amid key market participants and other external parties.  As such, the jobholder will have excellent interpersonal, communication and persuasion skills, yet also the ability to engage in technical discussion.  A command of commodity pricing mechanisms and systems in both physical and paper markets would therefore be a distinct advantage.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Increase the use of CRU prices in physical and paper markets, through influencing decision makers and supporting broader communications and research, that helps CRU prices always meet and anticipate market need. This will involve promoting CRUs brand in pricing; explaining CRU price methodology and definitions and the particular value of CRU prices, and; providing market intelligence in order to evolve CRU’s price portfolio, methodology and definitions
  • Increase the number of providers of price data to CRU
  • Seek out, interpret and report Price Reporting Agency (“PRA”) competitor activity and recommend actions in possible response
  • Seek out and deliver leads for all CRU services to CRU’s sales team

  • Commodity pricing mechanisms in physical markets
  • The operations of financial derivatives markets
  • Market requirements and applications for pricing benchmarks
  • Network building and maintenance, influencing and lobbying
  • The structure and operation of commodity supply chains, industry and competitive landscape
  • The operating model/s of PRAs and the price discovery processes
  • Awareness of price governance and compliance requirements
