The opportunity

Our market-leading Fertilizers team is seeking a talented and motivated Market Reporter. The role will initially focus on short-term market reporting and analysis of the North and South American fertilizer markets, with opportunity to grow into more in-depth market analysis.

The fertilizers business unit is seeking a talented, motivated, data-driven market reporter based in the Americas to contribute further to its growth. The location of the position is flexible but ideally where CRU has a regional office: Pittsburgh, Santiago (Chile) or New York. 

• Fertilizer market price assessments and reporting
• Analyzing and forecasting market fundamentals and trends
• Communicating to clients in written and verbal form
• Working closely with Fertilizer Week editors to publish reports in a timely and accurate manner
• Market calls for weekly price assessments and reporting
• Relationship building with key contacts

What we are looking for:

• A bachelors degree from an internationally recognized university
• Strong editing, writing and reporting skills
• Creative thinking based on a robust approach to data. Quantitative background an advantage
• Numeracy and ability to critically analyze data, identifying trends and key drivers
• Evidence of commercial awareness also an advantage, particularly an understanding of commodities markets
• A curious mindset and ability to quickly attain market information
• Strong English writing and reporting skills – candidate should be able to capture key market events concisely and incorporate data/analysis to provide unique CRU value-added content
• Ability to maintain relationships with information providers and expand networks
• Goal-oriented, with a high level of energy and enthusiasm; able to operate efficiently, effectively and professionally within a fast-paced, dynamic and results-driven business environment
• An analytical mindset with the ability to get to grips quickly with the intricacies and complexities of the economics and data that drive our business and strategy
• Creative in the application of first principles to problems and mindful of the time constraints of an international business environment
• Approachable, with a positive and collaborative attitude and a genuine interest in developing the team to maintain its position as the industry benchmark – delivering value to our clients and creating value for shareholders
• Spanish and Portuguese language skills advantageous
