You will be responsible for basic market research for either Steel or Non-Ferrous Metals, analysing market fundamentals, forecasting and communicating your views in written form. Moreover, you will work closely with product editors and regional market experts whilst also contributing to process development and data management initiatives. Perform analysis and interpretation of data and statistics, working with fellow analysts on regular products.
Maintain and develop a structured approach to data collection, storage and analysis.
Understand and contribute to CRU’s research and forecast models and methodologies.
Represent CRU to clients and at conferences.
Understand customer requirements and work with colleagues to meet those needs.
Maintain structured set of contacts within markets, for own use and for the use of colleagues.
Carry out supply or demand research across a range of product areas, taking functional leadership from the lead consultant for those products.
Perform analysis and interpretation of data and statistics to generate forecasts.
Become part of the production staff for our publications. Prepare sections of chapters for market analysis reports and cost of production studies.
Assist in the preparation of presentations for seminars, conferences and to clients.
Take part in client/site visit and conference meetings as required, as part of team, working with our business development managers.
Attend relevant conferences and contribute to client meetings.
Ensure client inquiries are passed on to appropriate sales / marketing / senior consultants as required.
Conduct phone calls with producers/users of respective commodities and intermediates to update / upgrade data company data and market information.
Take part in consultancy projects where required, under supervision.
Degree educated with a relevant first degree in Economics or other numerate/related discipline.
Numeracy and ability to critically analyse data, identifying trends and key drivers.
Excellent Microsoft Excel and data management skills.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
Complete fluency in written and spoken English.
Confident in talking to market participants by telephone.
Good attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Ability to work to strict deadlines.
Evidence of commercial awareness would also be an advantage, particularly an understanding of commodity markets or relevant work experience.Apply for this job vacancy
