CRU Consulting is the consultancy arm of the CRU Group and delivers approximately 200 projects per year across a wide section of clients in the mining, metals, fertilisers and chemicals industry. Many of our projects are related to strategic decisions faced by our clients. We provide value to our clients through accurate data, insightful analysis and timely delivery.

A Senior Consultant in the Sydney office will work alongside industry experts and play a key role within our consulting division: managing projects; building new client relationships; providing in-depth and insightful knowledge on a wide range of exciting and often confidential global projects. Key Responsibilities
Senior Consultants are primarily responsible for project management. They will be expected to carry out the following tasks themselves or supervise junior team members on these tasks:

  • Design project workplans and complete delegation notes; to lead and contribute to internal and external project meetings.
  • Find and manipulate data using existing data analysis methodologies, and identify key trends and messages in data and present this to the client in a clear and meaningful way.
  • Prepare reports in MS office software; including data analysis and report writing software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other technical/economic software as appropriate.
  • Structure report sections in the “CRU Consulting” style.
  • Responsible for meeting imposed deadlines.

Support senior team members’ marketing; lead generation and proposal preparation:

  • Provide input into proposals, and to deliver proposals to clients when needed.
  • Contribute to marketing material and write up case studies.

Document client contacts, leads and proposals in CRU Consulting’s lead generation and tracking software.

Interact with CRU’s offices and key persons (Sales, Events, Analysis).

Present market opportunities to clients, gain insight into client’s business, identifying and convincing potential clients on how CRU can assist in their strategic planning and market development plans

Desirable Criteria
Relevant first degree e.g. Engineering and/or Economics (essential)

Further degree (Masters degree with merit and/or PhD) would be beneficial

Extensive experience in mining and metals and/or energy and agriculture

Strong background in maths and/or economics

A thought leader with respect to the economics of commodities and proven commercial experience in the application of new thought to business issues

Strong quantitative background and a creative thinker based on a robust approach to data/modelling

Experience of managing and leading a team, preferably within a consulting environment

Intellectual leadership with an exceptional understanding of the metals, mining and energy markets

Exposure working across multi-locations with different culturesRelevant first degree e.g. Engineering and/or Economics (essential)

Additional Information
The applicant must have entitlement for Australian full time work and be prepared to relocate to Sydney.
