This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior IT Systems Administrator to come and join our global business. The role will be joining the IT Operations team of 6. CRU specialise in providing information and data for the mining, metals and fertilizer industries. The main purpose of the role is to manage and support all aspects of the IT Infrastructure systems and provide 3rd line support to the global user base.

Working alongside the IT Operations Manager and Support Team, the successful candidate will have a broad range of technical and management skills including the project management and rollout of new systems and software to the business. You should enjoy working with people in a global environment, be customer centric, focused and be highly organised with excellent IT skills and knowledge.

Ideally candidates will have a University degree in the field of computer science or information systems, and extensive IT working experience.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Strategy & Planning Responsibilities:

  • Work with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations
  • Ensure IT services are available, secure and reliable, by developing comprehensive maintenance, security and disaster recovery plans
  • Ensure adequate documentation of network and systems operations are in place and kept up to date
  • Develop maintenance schedules for network and systems equipment
  • Conduct system feasibility studies and testing
  • Develop and implement all functional policies and procedures, including those for network architecture, standards, purchasing, and service provision

 Acquisition & Deployment Responsibilities:

  • Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of IT systems, including networks, data centres, servers, PCs, operating systems, and associated hardware
  • Manage the deployment and user training for new software and hardware and across the business
  • Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives
  • Approve purchase of equipment and supplies in order to meet operational requirements of the business
  • Analyse existing operations and make recommendations for the improvement of the network infrastructure and IT systems
  • Conduct research and remain current with the latest technologies and solutions in support of procurement efforts

 Operational Management Responsibilities:

  • Practice asset management for IT and telecommunications hardware, software, and equipment, and maximise value for money
  • Manage the monitoring of security systems and ensure best practice is followed within the IT team and across the business
  • Provide end-user services, including help desk and technical support services
  • Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the IT Operations Manager regarding pertinent IT activities
  • Oversee operations-related projects and project portfolio

 Knowledge & Experience

  • Strong technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Windows Servers/OS’s, Microsoft Azure, Office 365, VMWare, Unified Comms, Microsoft Exchange, DUO MFA, Enterprise File Systems, ESET Security Suite including Safetica DLP and Drive Encryption
  • Strong Infrastructure Security awareness including experience with firewalls, VPNS, Switches, Routers, DNS
  • Strong understanding of project management principles and IT/ITIL Processes
