The jobholder will assume editorial responsibility and also further CRU’s pricing agenda in both the growth of data provision and adoption of CRU steel prices, with a focus on the European flat-rolled market. They would also be responsible for expert content creation, supporting business development and championing existing customer relations.
The job demands the highest level of analytical capability, attention to detail, the ability to forge a strong network of contacts and understand and deliver client value. For the right person, however, it will provide external customer and market engagement and the opportunity to become an integral part of a dynamic, supportive and truly international team.
Editorial (production planning and quality control, message ownership, coordination of message – global long products market); market analysis, forecasting and issue-driven ‘expert’ content creation; direct customer contact - value-adding and customer championing; businesses development support; data provider acquisition and promotion of CRU price indices; ad-hoc consulting work.
Degree-educated, ideally in economics or other numerate discipline.
Proven analytical skills (ability to critically analyse data and identify trends and key drivers).
Quantitative analysis skills would be a distinct advantage
The ability to construct and express a well reasoned and logical argument, evidenced by supporting data and with clearly articulated assumptions.
First class communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to convincingly deliver and defend CRU’s view to external audiences in any setting.
The ability to work effectively in a multi-site international team: effectively communicating with team members and, critically, coordinating and running publication processes within this setup.
Unrelenting attention to detail and the ability to deploy this in error-free outputs.
An ability to individually work to strict deadlines and also to deliver products to strict deadlines, showing leadership in this task.
Commercial awareness, demonstrated by a sound knowledge of the current performance of your product/s, along with an extensive contact list of key people within your market and proven ability to spot an opportunity.
A determination to succeed and a “can do” attitude.
To be a team, business unit and company player and work with colleagues towards common goals.
Experience of supply/demand fundamentals analysis and forecasting; price forecasting.
Experience of creating and scrutinising written market analysis.
Knowledge of steel supply chains: in particular pricing mechanisms and market analysis/commercial decision-making processes.
Excellent IT skills including the use of MS Office (Advanced Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Fluent written and spoken English.
Primary and secondary research.
Given the international nature of the team, some flexibility will be required from time to time in the scheduling and attendance of meetings with colleagues in different time zones.
