Our Product Improvement team is seeking a talented and motivated Product Manager Asset Level Services. Reporting into the Research Director and Head of New Products, this senior role will drive growth in our asset-level data services in not only just costs but also emissions, company-views and the whole gamut of new data and data tool deliverables we can spin off and currently at 4-5m GBP sales. These services are data rich and so will be managed by methodologies suitable for data-rich products.

This new role is at the heart of our strategy to develop the asset-level data services: we plan to split the delivery of data and insight from the development of customer functionality and then replace a legacy of developing customer functionality within product siloes with a harmonised agile product development approach. According to that approach, the asset-level Product Manager will manage the process of setting (and re-setting) priorities for development proactively from the centre; and, drive the creation of an integrated brand and co-marketing of these asset-level services. A key element of our development strategy is establish CRU as a brand for data quality and not strive for granularity or features at the expense of quality.

You will define and collate your own success metrics such as data quality, activity of clients, features completed, usage of platforms by staff, and for new products, the return on investment. They will help of the Research Director, interrogate the numbers as governance and prepare Board Reports.

The main location we are recruiting in will be London, but we are open to candidates in Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore, Pittsburgh, Chile or Sydney. Candidates need to have full right to work in the location they are applying. We are unable to provide Visa Sponsorship for this role.

We are looking for candidates with a top degree from a leading university (Undergraduate and Masters) – The undergraduate degree (first or 2:1), or equivalent level qualification from a leading university outside of the UK in a relevant discipline. You must be able to work to strict deadlines and have excellent attention to details, as well as having excellent communication skills especially in both written and verbal. 

As a global Company we work across multiple time zones, so a degree of flexibility will be needed. The role may also require a level of international and local travel (pandemic travel restrictions dependant), so candidates will need to be comfortable with this. 

Other responsibilities will include: 

  • Researching into clients’ problems and managing and developing relationships with commercial partners;
  • Running an agile product development evidence-based prioritisation process that turns transition of clients from legacy deliverables into growth opportunities;
  • Creating a harmonised brand with data quality integral to the brand;
  • Disseminating metrics on activity and impacts to influence behaviour and hold the product development team accountable.

About you – what skills & experience are we looking for? 

  • Technical expertise in costs to translate business-to-technical requirements, and vice versa
  • The ability to work with cost model experts, but also able to speak to users on the data, useful associations and present alongside them when required
  • The drive and experience to translate inevitable complexity into simple messages is a key aspect of the role. Building a common language, championing and influencing to get internal alignment while also being open to diverse thought and challenge are also important skills.
  • Team working: Someone who can take the initiative but also perform successfully as part of a team
  • Performance driven: The ability to demonstrate, on a consistent basis, that you can meet team objectives, targets, and deadlines
  • Numeracy: Familiarity with handling large data sets and understanding mathematical concepts and processes.  Someone who can interpret, manipulate, and manage data
  • Communication skills: Complete fluency (written and spoken) in English  
  • IT Skills: Excellent Microsoft Excel spreadsheet and data management skills, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Excellent attention to detail
