CRU International is seeking a highly motivated Senior Analyst to join our Aluminium team in London. You will lead and contribute to our market reports and provide insightful analysis and price discovery mainly across the aluminium downstream area, as well as across the primary metal, scrap, and value-added shapes markets. Knowledge of other parts of the aluminium value chain would be a benefit also. While the role will be global in nature, there will be a high degree of focus on the European, Middle East and S.E Asian markets.
To be successful in the role, you must be a strong communicator with an analytical mind-set and have the ability to get to grips quickly with the intricacies and complexities of the data that drive our business and strategy, will be key to the success of this role. You will need to be comfortable and confident when speaking and presenting to market participants, and demonstrate diligence in workflow processes for price discovery, and capable of creating high quality, insightful industry analysis.
Reporting into a Principal Analyst, this role demands a high level of analytical capability, attention to detail, and the ability to forge a strong network of contacts and understand and deliver client value. You must be able to work effectively and collaboratively in an international team of market analysts and deliver to tight deadlines. Product and line management opportunities will also arise for the successful candidate.
You should be degree educated (Undergraduate and Masters) – The undergraduate degree (first or 2:1), should be from a top British university, or equivalent level qualification from a leading university outside of these countries. Qualifications will ideally be in Economics or another numerate discipline. The role will also require a level of international travel, so you will need to be comfortable with this. As a global company we work across multiple time zones, so a degree of flexibility may be needed at times.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product management and editorship within the portfolio of the Aluminium team’s products will be expected
- Establish an informed and independent view of market trends and industry developments across the aluminium downstream markets, including both supply and demand trends
- Validate and continually improve demand and supply data
- Understand, maintain, and use existing demand models and processes to deliver insightful analytical content
- Engage with the market to develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of aluminium markets
- Help CRU's price discovery process by seeking to obtain prices of key aluminium products
- Create and communicate data driven analysis of market developments and issues that are compelling, logical, and cohesive to senior industry executives
Essential Criteria:
Knowledge and Experience:
- Experience of working within the mining, metals or energy industries
- Ability to quickly grasp the key technical and financial aspects is essential
- Strong quantitative background and a creative thinker with ability to construct, deliver and defend a compelling narrative.
- Exposure to working across multi-locations with different cultures would be beneficial
