Claire Ballak is a highly experienced compliance leader and has been a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment since 2019. She brings over 20 years of experience to her role as Global Head of Compliance and Legal Services. She joined CRU in 2018 and built the compliance and legal services function from the ground up, establishing the legal and regulatory frameworks that underpin growth and operational resilience.  

At CRU, Claire leads group-wide compliance and legal strategy, overseeing external audits, corporate governance, information-security compliance and contract governance. She is the registered Company Secretary and manages corporate secretarial arrangements across global offices, ensuring alignment with local regulatory requirements. 

Claire has led significant governance and control enhancements, including IOSCO assurance reviews, the roll-out of updated global terms and licensing frameworks, and the successful maintenance of ISO 27001 certification. She also helped establish key governance committees, including Global Risk and Compliance, Price Governance, and AI Governance, strengthening accountability, transparency and a strong culture of compliance. Prior to CRU, she held senior compliance roles in global commodity brokerages and financial service firms, advising on cross-border regulation, audits and regulatory engagement.
