CRU held its first Jakarta Strategic Briefing, bringing together senior leaders from across Indonesia’s metals and mining sectors for a focused discussion on the outlook for Indonesia’s aluminium industry, lithium, nickel, and the macroeconomic outlook shaping Southeast Asia’s industrial development.

The event enabled us to engage with decision-makers, including C-level executives from organisations such as MIND ID, Eramet, Adaro, and the Indonesia Investment Authority (INA) as part of our focus on the Indonesia aluminium industry and the broader APAC region.

Attendees heard from CRU’s expert analysts, who delivered in-depth, timely insight into the region’s evolving commodity landscape:

  • Henry Hao, Senior Economist, presented an overview of the Indonesian macroeconomic outlook, including key implications of US–China trade de-escalation and pathways for continued Indonesian macroeconomic growth.
  • Guillaume Osouf, Principal Analyst for Aluminium, explored the future of Indonesian aluminium, highlighting how Indonesia is positioned to become a key player in the global supply chain with its growing aluminium industry.
  • Adhita Widiadhari, Analyst for Battery Metals, shared perspectives on the global battery market outlook and the increasing relevance of Indonesia as a lithium investment destination.
  • Angela Durrant, Principal Analyst for Nickel, examined Indonesia’s rapidly expanding role in the global nickel market and its impact on supply dynamics across Asia.

The presentations prompted thoughtful dialogue and engagement with participants, with many noting the value of accessing CRU’s global expertise through a local lens and expressing interest in deeper collaboration and more region-specific insight.

It underscores the region’s growing demand for localised, analyst-led intelligence, and reaffirms CRU’s role as a trusted partner at the intersection of market analysis, strategic forecasting, and client engagement.

As interest in the Indonesian aluminium industry, the global battery market outlook, and the Indonesian macroeconomic growth story continues to grow, CRU is committed to expanding its presence across Southeast Asia and delivering world-class insight that empowers industry stakeholders across the region.
