With the Russian invasion of Ukraine, many questioned whether the EU would abandon its ambitious climate plans under Fit-for-55 plan. In a recent Insight, CRU argued that the EU was still on track to achieve its climate targets. In May, the EU decided to intensify its efforts to decarbonise and make itself independent from Russian energy as a response to global warming and the ongoing war in Ukraine. To meet increasingly ambitious targets, current processes and practices will need to change dramatically.
