About the role:
CRU is seeking a Strategic Account Manager to drive revenue growth across a portfolio of strategic accounts by acquiring new clients and expanding existing relationships through cross-sell and upsell. This role is focused on delivering measurable outcomes through disciplined pipeline management, executive stakeholder engagement, cross-functional collaboration, and solution-led, outcome-based selling into the US and Canadian fertilizer industry and supply chains. A genuine passion for sales, curiosity, and a growth mindset are essential and non-negotiable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Revenue and Growth - Deliver annual net-new and expansion targets across assigned strategic accounts; consistently meet or exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets.
- Account Strategy and Planning - Build and execute multi-year account plans (whitespace, cross and upsell opportunities and development, renewal risk mitigation) aligned to client personas and use cases.
- New Logo Acquisition - Identify, qualify, and close new opportunities via targeted outreach, strategic travel and networking within the assigned remit.
- Executive Relationship Management - Develop senior relationships with prospect and client stakeholders; collaborate with Customer Success in developing QBRs/EBRs with clear success metrics, ownership and actions.
- Solution-Led, Outcome-based Selling - Diagnose client challenges and position CRU services, data, and insights to deliver ROI; negotiate and close multi-stakeholder deals.
- Forecasting and Hygiene - Maintain accurate pipeline, forecast, and activity metrics in CRM (Salesforce); uphold sales process discipline from discovery to close.
- Collaboration and Enablement - Partner with Product, Analysis, and Customer Success to onboard, retain, and expand; translate client feedback into improvements and new commercial opportunities.
- Market Intelligence - Stay current on commodity trends with the fertilizer industry and supply chain, helping to inform growth strategies and commercial initiatives.
- Travel - Travel 30%–40% for client meetings, events, and internal sessions; if fully remote, spend one week per quarter in the Pittsburgh NA HQ. You must love sales, be curious, and have a growth mindset; this is a non-negotiable.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field
Skills & Experience:
- 5+ years of enterprise sales or strategic account leadership experience, ideally in adjacent industries
- Consistent record of meeting/exceeding sales targets, with strong negotiation and closing capability
- Enterprise account management skills: ability to manage complex, multi-threaded accounts with long-term growth focus and renewal discipline
- Commercial acumen: pipeline creation, qualification, business case development, and effective negotiation
- Communication and influence: compelling storytelling and executive presence in verbal and written formats
- Strategic thinking: ability to structure account strategies, prioritize opportunities, and adapt in fast-paced environments tailored to unique client personas and use cases
- Analytical problem solving: translate client challenges into solutions; leverage customer data and insights
- CRM excellence: strong grasp of CRM principles, cross-functional collaboration, and AI integrations; proficiency with Salesforce and sales tools
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Understanding of APIs and data integrations relevant to sales workflows
- Demonstrated curiosity, growth mindset, and passion for sales
