About the Role:

Join CRU as a Product Modeller to shape how we create and deliver commodity data across mining, metals, and fertilizers. You will consult across teams, define and formalise model logic, and drive improvements to processes, algorithms, and data delivery that power our forecasts, scenarios, and client-facing products.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate in a dynamic, problem-solving team; provide coverage across data delivery, project development, and lifecycle management of data and metadata.
  • Diagnose and formalize problems and opportunities; research, write, and communicate business requirements to enable prioritization.
  • Understand CRU metadata, governing protocols, client usage, and needs; promote best modelling practices and appropriate tooling in a Snowflake environment.
  • Write detailed design requirements, formalizing model logic as “word maths”; prototype small models to test and validate approaches.
  • Design solutions that sustainably improve existing processes, algorithms, and models; develop independently or partner with developers to build into CRU software.
  • Present clear evidence of progress and outcomes, separating problems from solutions and sharing lessons learned to manage change.
  • Champion good practice with users; define measurable data quality metrics for internal use and marketing; document models for internal stakeholders.
  • Proactively review and optimize data models and processes; anticipate and resolve issues; triage and fix bugs as needed.
  • Test data models to ensure they meet business requirements and acceptance criteria.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in numerate discipline math's, natural science, engineering, computer science or economics

Skills & Experience:

  • Ability to read and write mathematics and formal notation.
  • Experience with Excel, including formulas and data analysis.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working at the intersection of technology, business, and clients.
  • Useful experience with Python, SQL, and HTML.
  • Familiarity with data modelling best practices; awareness of Snowflake-compatible tools and techniques.
