CRU is pleased to announce the successful launch of a new data collection platform for its US Midwest, German and Italian steel sheet prices and plate prices. The CDCP (CRU Data Collection Platform) was launched on 25 April, collecting data for business in the week of 20–26 April, and publishing the final price assessments on 30 April.

The CDCP works alongside the CPS (CRU Prices System) to collect price data from Data Providers for CRU’s US and European steel sheet commodity price benchmarks and replaces the old CRU Price Collection Platform (CPCP).

CRU’s US Midwest HR Coil Index is the dominant and established global benchmark, used to settle most US physical market contracts, as well as futures contracts on the CME. Our Italian and German steel sheet and plate indices are also used heavily in physical market contract settlement.

The CDCP helps CRU maintain best practices in CRU’s price reporting and ensures the continued accuracy of CRU price data and alignment with our established methodologies.

Some of the key benefits of the CDCP are:

  • Mobile native website so data providers can submit data on the go
  • Simplified navigation panel
  • Improved charting of historical prices and indicators
  • Improved security and data protection

We look forward to the positive impact this new platform will bring to all of CRU’s subscribers, data providers and the wider market.
